Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman has been discharged from a Chennai hospital after being admitted due to dehydration and neck pain caused by recent travel. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin provided an update on the musician’s health, assuring fans that Rahman is doing well and will be back home soon.
Taking to social media, Stalin wrote, “As soon as I heard the news that Isaipuyal @arrahman had been admitted to the hospital due to ill health, I contacted the doctors and inquired about his health! They said he is fine and will be back home soon! Happy!”
Rahman, 58, had gone to the hospital for a check-up after feeling unwell. His team later confirmed that all medical tests showed normal results, and he was discharged the same day. They also dismissed rumors suggesting he was hospitalized due to heart issues. “It’s fake news. Rahman was admitted because of dehydration and neck pain due to travel,” his team clarified.
The music maestro has been keeping busy with multiple projects and live performances. Last month, he joined Ed Sheeran on stage during the Chennai leg of the Mathematics Tour, where they performed a special remix of Shape of You and Urvasi.
Rahman is also set to compose music for Tere Ishq Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. The film, directed by Anand L. Rai, serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2013 hit Raanjhanaa.
